>Robert Green is the Product Manager. This means he is, among other things, responsible for marketing of VFP. And you are correct. He has to live within his budget. When Robert was here (in Salt Lake City) last February, I had about 90 minutes one-on-one with him. One of the things we talked about was exactly what you have said...he has to maximize the use of his budget. I have known Robert for many years...going back to before he started work for MS and we've developed a good relationship. He has been very open and honest about things. Our conversation gave me good insites into his job and what he has to deal with. Because of the chat I had had with him, I know much more about VFP marketing than most of the posters in this thread.

This brings to mind another thread going on now. The one on DevDays. If I recall correctly, a similar one popped here last year. I believe that it was John Petersen who pointed out that the reason that there's no mention of VFP there is that in previous years when VFP was mentioned there was little or no response. That fits in with my "bang for the buck" point.

>Yes, I was on that case study too. Unfortunately, I got really busy at that time and couldn't follow along like I had wanted to do.

I certainly didn't mean to be critical of the folks that were involved in that project. I was on the list too, but my capacity was a GLKFOG (General Lurker, Kibbitzer and Friend Of Gonzo< g >). You guys were trying to make a positive contribution to the community. That's what it's about, isn't it?

Personally, I'd like to see some involvement of VFP in the MS case studies. If only for the purpose of providing an example of the implementation of a multi-language, n-tier design. Further, I think that such a study would have value regardless of the language the reader was using.
