Corruption in table and/or index causes this (besides other like faulty RAM chip, bad sectors...). I had it before :) and you're lucky just resetting makes them work again. But I suggest you tell them a backup. In my case I couldn't recover it on the table itself so did an export to ascii, create the table and indexes from scratch and append.
