GHOST can do this, but there's an issue with the machine's SID. Other (unfortunately more expensive) products like DriveCopy Professional have utilities to adjust the SID properly. There's a whole lot of stuff on cloning NT systems on the MS Website, and in the MSDN scattered all about.

Hi Ed, Evan,

I use ghost all the time on many different configations of hardware and have rarely had problems. A full reinstall in 30 minutes, including all ours apps.Ghost includes a command line utility called ghstwalk that will update both the SID and the computer name.

You can also use NewSid. It's free and can be downloaded at http:\www.sysinterals.com It will also sync SIDS between machines for BDC's. It runs in NT as opposed to DOS.

The cloning is simple, it's working out the mismatched devices and services that can be difficult. Especially when the mouse driver is wacked :( Ghost was picked up by Innovative and is now called IC3 (I think). You can find it at http://www.innovativesoftware.com/imagecast/home.htm

They added to ghost to allow for multi-casting which is pretty cool. Although NT5 is supposed to have it built-in (I did see a beta of it running at a local trainging center)

>At a minimum, IP address, computer name, SID, and possibly some other related items. DriveCopy Professional addresses this. If there's any variation in hardware, things will most likely break.

Once it's cloned, boot and go straight to the event viewer, which will tell you everything that not's working.
