>We currently have a rather large Windows NT network set up to support our nationwide business. We've just made an overseas acquisition of another company who has their own NT domain. When I RAS into their server, I can see everything on their system: drives, SQL Server, etc. but then I can no longer access any resources whatsoever on my own network outside of my own local drives. Can anybody (in laymen's terms please) explain what has happened and how we can link the two domains (or more) together so that I can see resources from both simultaneously. I'm reading about tusted connections and RRAS now and quite frankly I don't see anything that answers this dilemma!
You can only be 'logged into' one domain at a time; the solution in this situation is to establish trust relationships between domains, so that loggin into one of the two domains acquires some set of rights in the other domain. This is an issue that neds to be resolved by your network administrator, since the exact method of setting this up depends on how the domain hierarchy is established (there are several models that can be applied to interrelating domains and applying trusts; Microsoft's core curriculum for the NT Server exam goes through this in detail, as does Queue's
Using NT Server 4.0, and probably any other decent title on NT Server, like MCSE study guides from various people.
