ahhhh... didn't realize that there is an anti-glare coating on the screen. Sounds like a new monitor is the best approach... and given we are a VERY big Dell shop, chances are my sys admin guy can twist a few arms to get a replacement.... <s> LOL.... Thanks for your help!
