Double oops -- I just tried it your way in VFP 5, and it works! Guess I shouldn't believe everything I read.

The COPY STRUCTURE help in VFP6 says "Creates a new, empty free table with the same structure as the currently selected table.", but the details for the DATABASE argument says "Specifies the name of an existing database to which the new table is added.", so there is a little contradiction in the help file...
