>I am trying to install windows NT server on the same drive as windows 98. Windows 98 is functioning normally with no problems on a 3G partition (fat32) of a 13G hard drive. The drive has 3 more partitions of 1G, 4G, and 5G which are also recognized by the windows nt install as formatted at fat 32. I can delete the partitions and create unpartitioned space with the install, however NT will still not install on any of the partitions. I get the error "drive 8036MB at....does not have any partitions recognized by windows NT"

The drive has no information on it other than the windows 98 install and drivers, which I have read must be installed first when attempting a dual boot.

You must create a primary FAT16 partition and make that active to instlal both Win98 and NT Server bootable on the same drive. There are detailed instructions for the process in
John Saville's NT FAQ, but the process of retrofittng a drive larger than 7.8GB without a third party utility basically requires you to back up and restore what you have after doing the install right in the first place.
If you're willing to invest ~$70, do yourself a huge favor and buy a copy of PowerQuest's
Partition Magic 4.0 - it can do the necessary work and is a phenomenal tool for adjusting nd converting partitions. It's well worth the money in time saved, especially since it comes with a very easy to use multi-OS boot manager (basically what IBM shipped with Warp) and can handle all sorts of partition adjustments on the fly for you.
