>>>FWIW: I find this forcing of everyone to use 'C' type coding to often confuse and otherwise mess up the less sophisticated user. AFAIC: If you want to code in 'C', use a 'C' compiler. Or use Clipper -- they drove all their developers to FoxPro by forcing a pseudo-C syntax on them with Clipper-5x. Personally, I find the 2nd line MUCH easier to understand, and its consistent with any other mathematical or concatenation formula.

>>Thanks for your comment. I wasn't thinking of it as forcing 'C' type coding. I coded in C many years ago and do NOT miss it! VFP is a much better language and environment in my humble opinion. It's just a short cut I like, just like the ! instead of NOT in a conditional. It was just a thought.

>Okay -- I understand you want a shortcut. I wasn't trying to 'flame' you, and I know you weren't proposing to 'force' everyone to use it, but I find that syntax particularly obnoxious and unreadable.

LOL, I didn't read it as a flame or take it personally, no worries. One of the things I really liked about Fox when I made the switch over 8 years ago was the rich nature of the language, so many ways to do things. It's still an attribute I cherish. The whole purpose of the forum is to voice opinions, I'm glad you voiced yours.
