>Peak torque with my motor should be about 5000 RPM. I shift at about 6200. Pontiac are very torquey motors down low, compared to a BBC or Ford. Even with a balanced and blueprinted bottom end, roller cam, H-beam steel rods, there's really no need to pull over the low 6000s (some Pontiac guys don't even like it that high).

Yeah, a bit. I got into a big debate with someone about shift points a while back - he was making blanket statements about shifting at really high RPMs on all T/E/L's. To be honest, my trans. doesn't like shifting above 7300RPM. Because of the rev-limiter I can't try anything above 7500. My shift points keep changing since I keep modifying things on the engine - they keep moving up in RPM. Stock, the shift point was around 6200. Now, I'm sure the optimum shift point is somewhere above 7500. Probably the best way to find out would be to put it on a dyno to find peak HP.

BTW - great pictures. The car looks fantastic. I've only got pictures of my car in pieces ;-)
