Peak torque with my motor should be about 5000 RPM. I shift at about 6200. Pontiac are very torquey motors down low, compared to a BBC or Ford. Even with a balanced and blueprinted bottom end, roller cam, H-beam steel rods, there's really no need to pull over the low 6000s (some Pontiac guys don't even like it that high).

7500 RPM is sure revvin'. Have you experimented at the track to see if shifting that high helps or hurts?
