This isn't a hard comparison, but the first thing I tell people is to look at how the two are packaged. Access is an end-user product that comes with Office...another end-user product. It isn't designed for serious development. Yes, you can create programs with it, but you can also create programs with Excel or Word. They all support VBA. VFP is a developer tool. It comes with Visual Studio, another developer tool. VFP is fully object-oriented and has the fastest database engine.
