I am preparing an approximate budget for the Sept 2000 Devcon in Miami. I have some questions, numbered for ease of response.

South Beach Hotels
There are some Hotels within a couple blocks (walking distance) of the Fountainblue.
Try the Sheraton 4-points, and the Days Inn on Collins.

There is a nice hotel on Lincoln road called the Albion 305-913-1000. Haven't been there but I hear it's nice. About a mile away from the conference.

South Beach: About 3-4 miles away. Cabs are available (about $10 including tip.)
Abby - 305-531-0031
Century - 305-674-8855
Avalon 800-933-3306
Leslie Hotel- 305-604-5000 $120

A couple places in South Beach

I'll try to dig up some hotel info in the next couple of weeks.

>2)I am searching for flights on Yahoo Travel and I can save a bundle if I fly into the Fort Lauderdale airport (24 miles away) instead of the Miami airport. How far away is Miami airport from Miami Beach is it about the same as the Fort Lauderdale airport?
>

The Miami airport is about 15-20 minute drive to the Beach. Fort Lauderdale is about 30-40 minutes. If you can save a hunk of cash, FTL is a go bet. I think there are inexpensive shuttles from both airports that can get you to the beach.
http://www.supershuttle.com/mia.htm I think the super shuttle serves FTL also. At least I see the vans up here :)

Miami is about 2-3 miles from Miami beach. Downtown Miami is seperated from the beach by Biscayne bay. There are 3 causeways that take you over the bay to the beach.

>4)I stay 1 or 2 miles from the conference site, would this impair my Devcon experience academically or entertainment wise?

The conference site is only a couple of miles from South Beach, so.... there are cabs.

BTW most clubs in South Beach are open till 4am and there are 2 afterhours (no liquor) clubs that open at 4am and close around noon.

About a dog, who found two bone.
He lick the one, he lick the other.
