>Hmmmm....thanks for that input...guess I realized that it wouldn't really save me time the first on the first project, but it sounds like the learning curve is steep...did you 'get it' all from the user's guide? Are there any other books/resources you recommend? (I just checked into the wiki for the first time today).

Jill,

Using 3rd party framework introduces specific functions or commands in addition to VFPs. It is really painful on the part of neophytes in VFP because they have to learn two orientations (VFP and Framework). We have our own framework, but still, it is a necessary on our part to orient newly hired programmers to apply the framework standards. Painful but worthit because as you go along you will notice the VFPs power applied in frameworks. IMO using a framework WITHOUT "understanding its structure and intricacies" - to play safe because some might misunderstand me again, benefits you (short term) but not much as a developer (long term). So you have to understand the two stuff in order for you to apply your unique talent and imagination as a developer. This certainly a serious matter because if you do not understand the framework structure, hard for you to grow as a developer because you are just INSIDE the BOX of framework stardards and orientation. There are lots of topics here about these issue, some are HOT, some are COLD. VFP6 slogan to paraphrase "It benefits you (FFC)first then you Learn (VFP language)" with the introduction of FFC.

Menachem Bazian said it loud and clear in his "Using Visual Foxpro 6.0." book from Que Corporation.

>Yes...after much hassle w/Hallogram (they advertized 6.0, billed me for 6.0 and sent me 5.0), I finally have 6.0.

>>The advantage to using a framework like VFE is that you will have a much better structured project when you are done.
>I'm sure that's true...
