Try, "C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\*.LNK" (provided this is the location of your desktop). It works OK in 6.0, but I wonder about 5.0 (which I no longer have installed) because of the problem evidenced by ADIR() with these files. If the first one works ok, but doesn't have two or more periods, keep trying by adding the 1 parameter to get the next file. Of course, I'm assuming here that you've got a short cut on your desktop that reads something like "Visual FoxPro 6.0", which would be Visual FoxPro 6.0.LNK in the desktop directory.
