I scanned the documents in just fine, but when I tried to send the fax, I got a message saying that "MAPISP32" had commited an illegal operation and would be shut down. The information included a reference to kernel32. The solution was renamed MAPI32.DLL and copy an older version of it into the system directory. This applies to the use of Microsoft Fax under Win 98 SE.

Interesting - if you try to install the Internet-mail part of MS Messaging on 98 or after LookOut (sorry, Outlook) Express has been installed you can do so, but get all sorts of errors (including being unable to set the options of internet mail). If you rename and / or replace the MAPI*.* files all is well...hmmm methinks something slip't twixt cup and operating system with latest MAPI.OCX.

Thanks for the additional information
