>We can do more than guess, we are professionals (I heard they're are some arpund here ;-) and users who pay for a product
Ok, let me restate that. "
I can only guess, and "
I would probably guess wrong" then you get to say "Biiig Miiiissss" < g >
>Exactly, thats why I say a button labeled "Edit" is more appropriate for a toolbar prompt than any picture you can think of. Honestly show me an image that a new computer user will positivly associate with the word edit
faster or as fast as my solution: the word "edit".
I'm not saying one is better than the other, just give us the choice, so we can gear it to specific users. My office is full Interior Designers (who I develop for), they tend to mentally process pictures faster than text. But your right about trying design an icon to represent a concept like edit, it can be difficult.
>I've actually argued with my boss about having images (I wanted them) many times, after meeting some of the users I understand why this approach makes more sense.

>I don't understand why when I put my mouse over an IE toolbar button, it has to change color and grow a box, it doesn't do anything but show me my mouse is over button, something I'm already aware of.
I haven't really formed an opinion on those. They don't bother me, and the only people who I've ever heard express dislike about them are developers, and I think they're cool even though they serve no purpose.
