I found two VSS articles in Foxpro Advisor, October, 1997. They did not discuss adding files to VSS when they reside in another folder than the VFP project but I learned that the shared file technique works to do what I want.

However, I came across a problem: I notice that VSS adds *.FXP files to the VSS project. Does this make sense? By putting the compiled result files into VSS would prevent anyone from compiling local files to test. The "Help" says that selecting a group when manually adding files to VSS will filter only the ones that show in the group. Selecting VFP group indicates that no *.FXP files are in the group mask and the List Display shows this to be true. However, the Add pushbutton ignores this mask and takes everything in the folder. This looks like a bug to me.

I.E. if you have a main directory such as Dev or Projects, with a subfolder for each project, one of the subfolders should be the Xlib directory.

>>I have installed VSS and got it working but when I "Join a Project", many of the objects are not added to VSS. Specifically, any clases that are from Maxframe and reside in a different path that the one from the project returns an error that the .VCX file cannot be mapped to the VSS project.

>>Secondly, none of the BMP files in the Other Files section of the VFP project will load into VSS. I tried an experiment of removing one of the BMP files and adding it back to the VFP project. This calls up VSS so it tries to add the file then outputs an error that VSS cannot create an "mna" (I think that is the extension in the message) file. I notice that VSS creates this same extension for other files in the VSS project.
>>
>>The VSS help says I can add any type of file to VSS.
