>www.dirtcheapdrives.com is a good source for the rack mount hardware, both drive and primary system enclosures, and I've got reasonably good sources for PC Power and Cooling stuff if you've got a small fortune to spend...

Cool, I'll check them out.

>One temptation for yourself - $695 for a refurbished Quantum 15-30GB DLT in an external enclosure, rather than the $1800-1900 for a new 20-40GB drive, is my idea of a good price. You can get a 1 year or 6 year warranty on the refurb, and CSC has been around long enough to believe they'll still be open for business in 6 years. They also have refurbed Archive DDS-2 DAT autoloaders for cheap (about $400 refurbed), but I'm not sold on the mechanical reliability of the cheap autoloader mechanism in the 4596NP. My last purchase for myself was the raw HP 1554 DDS-3 drive for about $800 from Dirt Cheap Drives.

Hmm.. Since I'm a few months out on this that will give me some time to do the research. Thanks for the tips.

Now that sound serious! I go through my magazine stack about once a month. The only technical ones I keep are Foxtalk and perhaps one or two other special issues. All others go to that great landfill in the sky. *g*
