>This makes absolutely zero sense??? Talk about obfuscated logic. What is the purpose of using the combo box then? What is the purpose of having a displayvalue with no associated value.

I'll step up. I have a Combobox class that is designed just for this. The combo does not represent a list of key and display values, just a list of values that fill in a text field. Often, the users want a list of things that they can quickly choose from to enter a commonly present value in a field, but this list does not represent the full range of valid values, just common ones. With my combobox class, after a user enters a value that is not in the list, they are given the option of saving it as a premanent resident of the rowsource. If they choose not to, fine- the value can still be displayed by the combo.
