Hey... Does this mean we can start using profanity up here????

Cool...

Seriously, this is a dead issue to me. With regard to what you find rare, I strongly disagree. His answers are often incomplete, using techniques that are either not optimial, or suspect at best. I calls 'em as I sees 'em. And, I will continue to be the voice of correction when I see such posts, whether they come from Ed, you, or anybody else. I would expect you to do the same...

And before you start labeling me as the ONLY person to get personal here, lets spread the wealth, shall we.... Ed has dished it out a fair amount in this whole thing. At least if I have something to say to him, I have the courtesy of both doing directly to him, and in a language he understands. Me on the other hand am starting to get posts in Russian, and I have to seen some of his back-biting comments to others about me. I don't really care. It just means he opens himself up to some posts he would rather not see.

I have told him I wont cross his path if he does not cross my path. If he makes YAIP (yet another incaccurate post), I will bring it to his attention, in a technical and non-personal manner. You see, I have this flaw about not likeing to see folks getting misinformed. Gee John, what is the bigger disservice? Being somewhat abrasive at times, but correct, or playing the perpetual victim, trying to be friends with everybody, and having a correctness ratio of about 20-30%.

I understand you are preaching the UT-Company line here, and to a large extent, have lost your objectivity...

>Sorry to disappoint you, but this SHIT has got to stop.

>We're not in a beauty contest here. Ed Pikman has posted innumerable valuable posts. While I don't necessarily agree with his framework, it's rare that he has steered someone away from the tried and true. He doesn't evangelize the way he does things. Sometimes he makes a mistake, but don't we all? Ed spends a lot of time here helping others.
>
>John, I don't know why you're on this jihad, but it does a disservice to the UT and it does disservice to the MVP program. A large part of the MVP program is community building. This means DON'T insult...DON'T belittle....resolve differences privately.
>
>I think you are taking unfair advantage of your technical standing in the VFP community to bully others, and I don't think that's right. Not only won't I judge your "contest", anyone who supports your unfair, and unwarranted, continual attacks is on my shitlist.
>
>I suspect that this is the first time I have ever used harsh language here but....hey, dude....calm down. Nobody needs this stuff, OK?

>>In very simple terms... you could'nt carry our jock-straps...

>>Tell you what.... put your money where your mouth is.... If you are getting anywhere close to what a NY consultant gets, $1,000 should be about a days pay... it is for me....

>>Here is the bet....
>>
>>You place you horse behind your "unbound" method. I will place my horse behind what VFP gives me for free.

>>The scenario:
>>
>>We will do a simple system: Customers, Orders, Lineitems, and an Inventory.
>>
>>Simple requirements....
>>
>>Forms can be multi-instance. A user needs to have the ability to make whole sale changes to a set of line-items, and then cancel those changes, bring back what is on disk. A special rule is in place that if somebody made changes while you were editing a record, you need to warn the user that he/she might overwrite another user's changes.... I am sure we can come up with a few more...

>>Judging criteria:

>>1. Performance
>>2. Maintainability
>>3. UI design

>>One basic rule:

>>No frameworks, no prebuilt code.... This is VFP in the RAW!!! The Steel Cage Match....
>>
>>I am sure we can refine this - add requirements and judging criteria...
>>
>>I nominate John Koziol to be a judge in this little fiasco... There can be a few others as well.
>>
>>Ed, $1,000 bucks says this "less-experienced" developer will mop up the Big Apple with what ever you produce..
>>
>>NOW - step up to the plate and accept the challenge. OR.....knock off with the Russian phrases and personal crap. You want to be personal...fine.. back it up...
>>
>>You have been served notice...you have been called out.....
>>
>>Your move...

>>>>Less experience developers? Do you mean Mr. Booth and his petty friend?
