Wow! And I thought we were ridiculous. There really is someone out there nuttier than the U.S. Federal Gov't regarding this. We are only stripping EXE file attachments from e-mail.

We have had IT staff make the following stupid statements:

From 6:00pm December 30 to 6:00am January 3, public access to our internet will be prohibited. There will be a web page stating when we will be back on line.

Oh, really? Well how will the public get to it if access has been prohibited? DOH!

Beginning Friday December 31, we will place our mainframe computer systems in an idle state until 6:00am, Saturday January 1. Field staff will still have access to national databases to access mission critical data should emergencies arise.

Then explain how the system remains in an idle state. DOH!

There have been others, but this lack of thought makes me wonder...
