If you didn't do anything to optimize the SQL or make sure indexes are in place then there's a huge fallacy in your argument about xbase always outperforming SQL. If you'll give me the message number of the source code you are talking about I'll take a look at it.

I've been doing a lot of stuff with Sybase lately, and hands down for a lot of complicated queries it beats the pants off VFP.
