If you look at the strategies, you'll soon see that the performance gain is due to the fact that SQL has to store the results onto the disk (in fact making a copy of the data). The xBase equivalent does not make copies but provides the data as needen row by row. so the xBase strategy is saving CPU cycles, HD activity and internal memory. Talk about efficiency !
