I think the time has come up here to institute some form of self policing in regards to the abundance of information being presented that could possibly lead novice developers a stray in regards to the use of current technology.

For every few nuggets of valuable info I find up here on a daily basis, I also seem to find twice as many nuggets of misinformation. Add in the fact that many people seem to post just for the sake of seeing their name show up on the list, plus consideration for the fact that the rapid pace of changing technology can be hard to keep up with... I think it would be incredibly useful to have a mechanism where the general UT public could vote on the technical merit of a thread. This would hopefully eliminate 15 different people posting a response disagreeing with someone's suggestion. Ideally 1 person could voice the disagreement and the other 14 could vote the post lacks technical merit.

I think this would also be useful for when you haven't been able to log into UT for a few days, and in order to catch up you could ignore all the useless discussion that has been voted to hold little technical merit.

Wouldn't that be nice? Being able to filter non-technical messages is a great advance IMHO, not let's take in one step farther and provide a means of filtering technical messages that are essentially worthless.
