Ok.

I had uninstalled the Intellimouse software, so I started clean this morning. (This would normally not be my job, but since the GPF was only happening with VFP exes, it comes off looking like my fault :-))

I downloaded and installed the A14 FlashBIOS update. Rebooted the machine and the wheel did not work. Still no IM software installed. Installed the IM software, and the wheel does not work (this is worse than yesterday, when it worked, but caused errors with VFP exes). I go to the mouse config screen, and the "Enable wheel" checkbox is disabled. Looks like the system does not recognize the mouse as a wheeler.

I uninstalled the IM software, because the errors with VFP still occur even though the wheel doesnt work (double jeopardy)

On to Ed's suggestion- update the mouse driver. I go to the PS/2 mouse in the device manager and selectot update the driver from the MS site (The old driver is a sn***.vxd from synaptec, and the description says its a driver for the touchpad). MS decides to install a new driver- another one from Synaptec with a different name and a different date. (07/23/98) Looks like the problem might be lack of a good driver. I coudn't find anywhere to get the version of mouse driver that Ed suggested- anybody want to volunteer emailing me the driver they are using? Any other suggestions?

Thanks again.
