HiYa Gil!
No I know what your getting at! You can handle the pointing to correct database from File Menu (DO MAIN) User Preferences form. On first install of your app the user should get smacked with this form right off the bat. If by chance you problem is screwy references inside DBC, you can use the ChangePath (spelling?) utility (see Dev Cuide)... plus I always rebuild all & let proj mngr recompile my dbc when strange things like this happen.
