John,
There was a big discussion about this when Hackers Guide was first published. Whil Hentzen addressed it directly. His argument was that the book was originally priced at $49.95. It ended up being substantially larger than was originally intended. He had 2 choices: drop material or drop Cd. I think, as well as many others, that dropping the CD was the correct choice. The material is important enough that it all needs to be included.
Granted, it would have been nice to correct the text to indicate that there is no CD but you can download the material. But the small amount of time to download was no big deal in my opinion. Whil was trying to make a difficult decision. I think he made the right one.

>Does anybody else here think it's just a bit unfair that the Hacker's Guide refers constantly to a CD, but none is shipped through Henzenwerke and Digital River?
