Hi Becky,

I'm pretty sure I have discovered the problem with the data source 'not going with the document'... You must make sure the Data Source TALBE IS CLOSED before trying to work with the the Mail Merge Document. I have a Generic Template Document that is Set up for Mail Merging. At one point in the application, it creates a copy of itself for a particular product. When the application then tried to use the newly created document and do a mail merge, it would say the document was not a mail merge document (there was no data source). I went into the code, and after it opens the Generic Document and does the FileSaveAs, I close the Data Source Table, then when I open the newly created document, it's OK. I hope this helps you. Take Care.

>>Have automation where the system creates the Word document (mail merge document) for the user. Using activedocument.saveas(newDocument). It Names and Creates the new Word Document just fine and has the field names inserted, but later in the automation when it does a activedocument.mailmerge.execute, it says it can't do it because the document doesn't have a datasource associated with it. PLEASE tell me I can do this!
