I might well be one of the "clowns" that Erik & Ed are talking about. However, I learned Fox 2.6 for Win on the job 6 years ago when, the client who hired me to do a job said, "Oh, by the way, can you do what we asked for as a Windows program?"
If you have a facility for programming, a little stamina, and are willing to give the client a fair shake, I recommend that you hold your nose and jump into the deep end of the pool. There is nothing that will focus the mind better than the thought of imminent execution.
I was a one-man-band, at the time. We are now 5 full time people and that client is still our largest.
