>>Thanks for the advice... I don't need to worry a lot about the user's data entry interface, as the data is collected electronically and placed in fox tables.. I was just looking to enhance some of the reporting functionality that I have in my applicaation. I don't think I could justify spending a lot of money as it is basically , average, standard deviaion and test for normallcy that I would need. I had a few statistics courses years ago.. <bg> but I was wondering what was out there.

It's basically a hypothesis test with the NULL side being that the data is a random sample from a normal distribution, that part is simple enough. However, the computations are more obscure: if the # of sample observations is less than 50, something called a Shapiro-Walk statistic is computed; if greater than 50, something called a Kolomogorov D-statistic is computed, and these are compared with values from lookup tables for the test.

Absolutely... Is there a way to get the data from a vfp table to a format that one of the packages, that you mentioned, can import?

I think, I can justify the expense of a statistical package, due to the time needed to develop one. However...

To analyze data that is all ready collected electronically, I do not want to re-enter the information. Maybe some simple queries against the data??? export a text file???

What would be really cool would be an activex control that did this stuff, that I could drop on a form, let's say. (Idea...)

I don't know a lot about this and appreciate your help.

Thanks aain,
Mike
