This isn't really an answer to your question, just a comment.
One of the purposes of the Windows Script Host (along with either JScript or VBScript files) was to more or less serve as a replacement for the DOS batch file. There are only a couple of things that can't be done directly by a JScript or VBScript file. This doesn't mean that they can't be done. Further, there are a whole host (no pun intended) of other things that the WSH can do that a DOS batch file can't. So in other words, if there was a DOS batch file that had to be run on a regular basis, I'd definetely look into converting it to WSH.
