I think this is a much-needed effort. But why not do this as a second volume and focus strictly on C/S? Assuming the reader has a good grasp on VFP and OOP basics, how can a VFP app be migrated to SQL Server. Presumably you'll be covering ADO, XML, MTS, EIEIO, and making VFP work with those technologies. These are scary subjects to a lot of folks trying to take the C/S plunge.
I'd also like to see a n-tier "Heathkit" sample - maybe there's something out there and I've missed it, but if a reader could build a simple
n-tier app (with focus on the middle tier) and SEE the thing work it would probably really help in understanding the concepts. But then, maybe it's just me.
Good luck and I look forward to seeing the book!
