Hi Christof..

I am confused. Are you a contributing editor now? Do you evaluate articles for publication in FPA? Are you Tamar's spokesperson? < bg >. Sorry, that was a cheap shot...

>I've read the entire thread several times. In fact, I'm taking all comments here serious, because I really try to make FP Advisor as good as possible within my possibilities.
>
Once again, what is your capacity with Advisor??? And I am glad you are taking these issues seriously...

>>Have you shared them with Tamar?
>
>As have you. *g*

Hmmm how would you know that?? Me thinks you are getting BCC'd on some correspondence. I will take that issue up with Tamar...

>
But Tamar is only partly the right person to deal with this. While she is the editor of the magazine, it doesn't mean she can do anything she wants. She has to forward suggestion to the power that be just like I have to. Sending everything to Tamar simply means that she has less time to edit articles. *s*

I think Tamar is capable of coming up here and making those statements her self, don't you think? You are doing an admirable job of being a spokesperson. However, that is not required here...

>>I suspect there is some "fat" that can be excised from FPA.

>Hmm, I'm not sure I follow. What kind of "fat" are you talking about? Do you have some examples?

You can start with Miriam's column... After 6 years, it is pretty worn out. The last one on VB pretty much sums it up. I can't wait for the next installment. The Q an A stuff, I think you can move that online, and devote the page space to another article, something you cannot do online. The January issue has two articles that deal with Assign Methods. Is that really necessary? Data Migration??? How about something on integrating VFP and SQL Server? How about something on VFPCOM? How about something on using VFPCOM to faciliate Async processing in VFP? Unless of course, this is all the stuff that Tamar is getting. Then, I guess you need to publish what you have... Simply put, there are better and more appropriate topics out there. And, that is what folks want. However, when you constrain yourself to only 52 pages, (BTW, Advisor's E-Biz Advisor is 62 pages, so, it is not a model that ALL advisor mags follow), what are you supposed to do...

>>Pure beginner - 10%
>>Intermediate - 50%
>>Intermediate/Advanced - 30%
>>Advanced/Black Belt Programming - 10%

That still doesn't cover the issue how we evaluated articles. Maybe what we think is for intermediates, you consider to be pure beginner stuff. I know it <
doesn't make sense to ask here what beginners or intermediate folks think,
<

Again, you are now in a position for evaluating content??? Whoever is doing it, they are getting it wrong....

<
because everybody considers herself at least to be an advanced developer, just like on conferences. *g*
>

What exactly do you mean here???

>>If you look at the situation, there is ONE major FoxPro publication.
>
>Which one? I thought FPA and FoxTalk are both major FoxPro publications,

FPA is the major one. It is the one with mass distribution. Markus's mag will be a major one too, with respect to distribution. As far as FoxTalk goes, it is barely a blip on the raidar screen. At less than 2,000 subscribers, while it has great content, I classify it on the next rung down. Although, FPA is catching up to being a middle-rung player...< bg >..

<
and Markus first issue of SDM reached (I think) more than 20,000 VS users, that's more than FP Advisor has subscribers.
>

Dude, it is bigger than your entire production run now...< s >..

>I summerized the feedback and passed it on to the Advisor staff. Thanks.

Again, what role do you occupy at Advisor now????
