>My clients occasionally get C0000005 errors on their machine, which I cannot reproduce. Usually reinstalling windows takes care of the offensive message, but is a major deal to my mostly computer illiterate customers. I'm looking for some feedback on how others have addressed this issue with clients. And while I'm at it, does anyone else have to explain why their clients can't use HP printer drivers? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

You are using VFP 6 SP3? The last time this happened to me was this past weekend. The error did give me a line number from my app. The problem was the opening of a local view whose base table had a corrupt CDX which prevented the opening of the base table. I was able to delete the CDX, then used the SDT class I always include to rebuild the indexes based on the meta data kept by SDT.

Next time, see if you can get the actual error message generated in the dreaded C5 message box.

Other than that, there is not a whole lot you can tell the users. Stuff happens.
