If one feels like Markus's book sufficiently documents it (I have not read his book, sorry) and you can get it to work, all power to you.

If I were to really learn a big framework, I would have to buy it myself, and then probably not be able to use it, since I'm not going to be an independent contractor any time soon. What are the shortcomings of the FFC?
