Sorry. When you just metioned SQL in your first post, I thought it was short for SQL Server.

I am using Transact-SQL programming functions. The main Transact-SQL commands are the same for most if not all SQL back-ends (e.g. ALTER TABLE, SELECT, INSERT INTO). Functions can be vastly different.

I don't know of an Oracle translation for charindex.
