I have tried in vain to solve a problem I've had since installing SE on a Compaq 450/128 - I installed IE5.01 at the same time, so I'm not sure where the blame lies. I get intermittent "hangs" fairly often.

For example, sometimes I click on My Computer, and the machine just sits for 15 seconds or so, then finally opens the window. Some things (like IE) take as long as 30 seconds to open. Sometimes IE never does open, and Task Manager says "not responding." What could it be doing for all that time? (there's no drive noise or anything)

I've reinstalled both SE & IE5, purchased Norton Systemworks and cleaned up *everything* possible, but still have the hang...any ideas?
