I have a sneaking suspicion that this was meant for me< g >.
One more idea. The problem with printing to a file may not solve the problem. If, however, you have a pretty good idea how many pages that it handles OK, you could use successive calls using the RANGE clause of the print command, and increment the page values.
I haven't seen an MS driver for the 8100N, however, I don't think that the driver would have to be aware of the capacity of the tray, just know when the printer is out of paper.
