According to the Help:

In VFP 5, the help states: "A form receives the focus only when the form has no controls or when all its controls are disabled or invisible." The same information isn't explicitly stated in VFP6 help, but may be true there as well. Have you considered using the form Activate and Deactivate events? They are always called when the form gets/loses focus.
