Hi Barbara. Thanks for your reply.
The help text in VFP5 is wrong. A VFP5 form gets focus even with enabled controls.
IAC I am working in VFP6. Getfocus also fires upon initial activation (just after activate). In my tests, getfocus fires when the form first appears and is the active form, when I click out to something else which can receive focus then click back in. The lostfocus fires when I click out but not when I close. This behaviour is perfect for me since I don't need to save the environment when I close the form, I only need to save it when I leave the form and restore it when I reenter. Since all forms will have this behaviour, I am assured that the form will retreive it's own settings if required. Except in the (possible) exceptions I am inquiring about.
As far as I can tell, activate and deactivate fire simultaneously with getfocus and lostfocus so I don't see an advantage. There must be a difference but what is it? Wasn't there something about toolbars? (and toolbars opening forms?)
