Sorry, when I said "from a users point of view" I meant me, not other users in general.

I agree that its bad practice to use the same symbol for two things. And also believe that it's good to have a set of guidelines, so that everyone is working in the same fashion. As far as is practicable, I abide by the guidelines. That doesn't mean I have to like them though & I guess the changes came from people expressing their dislike of the previous guidelines.

>Not necessarily. The icon for help is also a question mark. Does that mean that the system is asking you a question? New users have found it confusing to have the same symbol mean two different things. It's also not good design to do things this way. That's why MS has changed the guidelines.
