The problem is that when I create the file all my column headers are there, but some of the columns have no data in them. Why? There are no calculated fields in the report. No report variables. Since the report is 8-1/2" X 11" in Landscape I set _ASCIICOLS = 120 to give some space between the columns. I used REPORT FORM partcost TO FILE testfile ASCII to generate the file. Since this is the 1st time I needed to output a report to text file is there something I overlooked?

I use the report to file in my apps and have found that I have to keep it simple and about 80 column. The report may look fine on the screen but when VFP tries to translate the data into text then certain fields may overlap others and others may be shoved out totally. My suggestion to you is to keep the font at COURIER NEW say 10 point and put out one line at the top and bottom of your report that shows character positions (12345678901234..) then in the body put your data and then generate the report and see where fields fall. It took me a few turns to get the report the way I neeeded it. We have since looked into a PDF solution to replace the text file generation, but sometimes that user needs the data from the report to enter into another app.

Hope this helps.
