I know the feeling. I just finished converting my first single user app to multi-user. It didn't require much extra code, but I still have a bug that remains when I first show a record on the form and it says it's locked, and I don't know why.

But if it will help you. I can send you my piece of code that I inserted that does error checking for record locks and I can tell you where I inserted the code. But the code only works if you are using buffering - pessimistic mode 2. I had it working as buffering mode 3 - optimistic, but the boss wanted me to change it to pessimistic. That didn't change my multi-user code, except where I inserted it into my form.
