6 is much faster at string manipulations, so your overall app performance may be better - a good selling point, at least, if not always measurable.

Also, , and perhaps more importantly, the longer you lag behind upgrading, the more difficult it becomes. Moving from 1 major version to another may be a little problematic, but trying to jump 2 or more versions can get *seriously* problematic.
