If looking at different VFP implementations you'll see that the *.DCX file of a database is really a normal .CDX file. In general you can name your index file with almost every extensions you wish, but I think you'll have problems to automaticly open them when you're opening the table.
Perhaps he means "is the .CDX different for a 2.6 table, compared to a .CDX for a VFP table -- since the .DBF *is* different." ??
