Karl,
What
kind of approach have you seen work?
I happen to think there's a kind of floating 'spot' somewhere betweeen 1)written rules and 2)cultural 'rules' and 3)personal 'rules'.
I note a difference between written and the other two as the second & third are a little harder to mail down in written form, plus the third probably the one with the wildest divergance.
I'm starting to wonder whether or not, during the course of this ..er.. exchange <g> that there has been some mixups on which of these we're attempting to codify? I know in my case I most definitely see places like this as having their own unique culture (as I'd imagine the typical VB, Oracle, Excel, etc locations would) and that has been what I have been seeking to focus on.
Without going into the particulars at this point, do you think that this might be a useful direction to investigate? I do, but before we proceed I'd like to know if you're interested.
Best,
DD
