Sounds like the biggest problem is one of managing user expectations and education rather than the technical one.

If this only happens on one pc, have you tried using that pc and printing on a different printer, or vice versa using that printer from a different PC? The idea here is to isolate the problem. It may have to do with things like printable area settings, or even a problem with the drivers for the printer. I'm clutching at straws here, but that's what popped into my head as I read your message.
