I am having trouble passing the value of a vfp field to a variable.

I have a data environment called dbfDataEnv.
It is connected to my form via dbfConn.
My vfp database, projdbc, contains a table, cmdlist, with a field, cmnd.
I would like to place the field value in a variable, tmpcmd.
Neither the field or the variable are associated with any objects on the form.

I just can't seem to get the syntax right on this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
