I can see that point related to the content and technical accuracy of the magazine, but not for internal management decisions about whether to respond publicly to your challenges.
>

Her's and Advisor's unwillingless to respond is directly related to the issue. Look at the current month's editorial on "How we can help" They can start by addressing pointed critiques of the magazine. At one point, my stuff was worthy of a response. Now, it is not. Gee, I wonder why that is. I can offer no other explanation than personal issues getting in the way.

>
Clearly? How do you measure that, scientifically? I think it would be more accurate to say "Among those who have responded in this thread, a majority have expressed appreciation for the candor expressed..."
>

As somebody who "attempted" a scientific poll here yourself, you should shy away from debating whether something is scientific or not..< s >... And yes, the vast majority of those that respond have appreciated the candor. I have also received a lot of private e mail. And, for those that have a real negative opinion, they would express that as well. I stand by my point, most folks appreciate the candid expression of ideas. This of course is true of the world at large..

"Most" sounds like maybe 85%+, and is one of the most misleading words in the English language. There may be many with differing opinions from yours who don't want to risk being flamed for saying so.
>

Most could be 51%. However, I suspect it is higher than that. As for folks that have had a different opinion than mine, they have not been afraid to express it. In fact, I would say the opposite is true. Those that have disagreed with me so much in the past probably find it hard to go on record to agree with me here. A good example is Garrett Fitzgerald. Calls me an idiot in public, but appoligizes to me in private. I don't mean to open old wounds here, but it serves to illustrate the point. Of course, there are folks that should have the Swiss flag as their flag on the UT. Total fence ridders with no opinion of their own. Then, there are 2-facers. Say one thing in public, and another in private.. In any case, I still stand by my original point, most folks appreciate the candor, and in all liklihood, do agree with me. Do I need to remind you of the optimism that flowed around here when I was named a Technical Editor?????

I'm not surprised at all that those who support your position have posted publicly. There's not much risk in that. It *is* possible that those are your only supporters :-) -- mostly kidding, but an interesting thought.

Again, that is possible, but I doubt it.
