Right off the top of me pointy little head, and assuming we're not talking massive numbers of records:

If you are populating the grid from the original file with a filter, place the "before" value in a variable, compare the 'before' and the 'current' and if 'current'<'before' place in reporting file.

or,

do the update to the original file on exit of the screen and do the lesser than test there.
